So I bought two chicks at the feed store. Supposedly both female, and supposedly one Easter Egger and one Barred Rock.

Now, I'm pretty sure that the lighter colored one is indeed an easter egger (green legs!). The barred rock chick, however, is missing its barring! I am also wondering about their genders as well. The black one is a bit heavier, his/her comb is already apparent, and his/her wattles are already starting to turn red (sorry the pictures don't show this!). They are both 4-5 weeks old by now.

A little help here? :)

This is them at three weeks, with mamma Orloff wondering where they came from

Thanks!

Yeah... the black one is not a barred rock. Possibly an Austrolorp. The other one is an EE for a fact. They both look like girls to me!

From the coloring of the chick, it could be a jersey giant as well. What color are the bottoms of the feet?

White = Australorp
Yellow = Jersey Giant

Thanks for your reply! The bottoms of her feet are a light pink/white, so Australorp it is! My first Australorp :)

Thanks! Yes I've had barred rocks before and I never remembered them going all black...so Australorp it is!
