When we purchased her she walked forward in the kennel we brought her home in. She didnt eat much that evening or drink dont know about that next day because we were at work. When we got home she still hadnt been eating or drinking but with help from us she started and has been since.

Our concern is that she is now only walking backwards, at least in front of us. We have her isolated and comfortable, food water with animal health solutions water mix solution containing probiotics, vitamins, minerals and electrolytes.

She sings happy when held and fed this is the only off thing about her.

From my experiences chickens that regularly back up are have troubles seeing. I would check her eyes to see if she can see and reacts to a finger close to the eye. She may need a trim so she can see better if her eyes seem okay.

Otherwise a head injury might cause odd behaviors and silkies are prone to them, especially those with a vaulted skull. I stopped keeping silkies due to all the problems they are prone to. Some require extra care.

We appreciate the insight. She hasn't had any bumps,on the head or trauma other than going from a coop with all of her 30 some odd sisters to now being alone.
We just trimmed around her eyes to help her see a bit better. Shes definitely happy. Just worried about her.

So after much research on here we started our Lil silkie girl on tumeric and she's getting better. She's walking forward again and able to stand for long periods of time. We first gave her a few drops mixed with water from a dropper, then mixed tumeric directly to her crumbles. We are in awe at the difference in her. Thank you so much everyone for your advice and wisdom.

So a quick update. Our beautiful white silkie is now part of the flock and is doing wonderfully. If your chicken gets to walking backwards, get the turmeric in them.

Hi Ashley ,
tell me more about this tumeric! absolutely fascinating. how much did you give her and how long did it take to work ?
thank you so much!

Karen,
We put about a tap in some hit water first. Let it cool and gave her a couple drops. She wouldn't take any more, she didn't like it. But just the couple drops we saw a bit of difference the next day. Then we sprinkled about a half a tap into a small bowl of crumbles and she devoured it. That's when we noticed she was standing up linger and would do a step or two forward. The whole process before she went back outside was about a week.
