They don't move for gals that gona lay they get pecky....it took me 10 weeks to break them out of it last time then 6 weeks later they back at it again. I've tried blocking next boxes off but that's no fair on laying gals I try shutting them out of coop yet again have problem my others then shut out when want to lay.... Do you not have a broody breaking cage (or two?) I'd have them easily accessible so you can toss birds in them whenever they start going broody. In most cases, if a bird is broken promply, they should break in about 3 days.

Taking 10 weeks to break isn't breaking them at all, they were just fattening up for round 2.

Plus it's not likely to be effective.

My experience goes about like this: After her setting for 3 days and nights in the nest (or as soon as I know they are broody), I put her in a wire dog crate (24"L x 18"W x 21"H) with smaller wire(1x2) on the bottom but no bedding, set up on a couple of 4x4's right in the coop or run with feed and water.

After 48 hours I let her out of crate very near roosting time(30-60 mins) if she goes to roost great, if she goes to nest put her back in crate.

Tho not necessary a chunk of 2x4 for a 'roost' was added to crate floor after pic was taken, gives the feet a break from the wire floor and encourage roosting.
