I got two 2-day-old Sebastapol goslings 2 days ago. The little girl had a "stump" and I understood that it should fall off after a few days. Today I noticed her bill had a bit of blood on it, and there is blood around the stump. What to do?? Pics in a bit when I can get a good one.

Do you have any Vetericyn spray? or betadine? with the betadine you can mix with water till it looks like weak tea and apply to the stump Veterycin can be sprayed directly, but something needs to be done asap to keep infection from happening.

I don't have those, but I put a product called Arista AH on it to make sure bleeding stopped (it's an absorbable hemostat). I have Bactine I can spray on it, too. She just fell asleep, so I'll squirt it when she wakes up.

I have to look up Arista ah but do not apply anything that has pain relief in it especially if it ends in caine.

I wouldn't use the Bacine, has lidocaine in it. even warm salt water would help after you get the bleeding stopped.

You can also use a clean q-tip to apply it. I hope that is not getting infected. I would go and purchase some betadine and vetericyn to keep on hand because it works with adults as well... I do not like the looks of it right now. Please get something on right away. Miss Lydia would some AVC in their water help contain the infection if starting???
