4 dayold chick prolapsed vent??

I’d like to open this conversation if anyone is out there for a bit more input. I am a new chick mama and got 5 baby chicks 6 days ago. I Found one to have a prolapsed vent yesterday and is really struggling. Did several things suggested on this thread; prepH, witch hazel, warm baths...her rump is raw but no blood and the others seem to be paying little mind. shes been pooping so I guess that’s a good thing and then...bam...she too had this white rock that she passed. Huge and seriously hard as a rock! Anyone know what that might be? I’m hopeful that this is what was causing her prolapse And she might be on the mend... I’m going to continue to watch her carefully. Any thoughts on updated remedies would be appreciated. I got these little girls as companions and hate to see one of them suffering. Thanks all!

I currently have a chick thats vent is protruding. I cleaned it for the last 3 days because poo is sticking to a small spot on it. I am going try the oil tomorrow with a q tip to get it back in. But she has a hard spot and am now worried she had something stuck in there. I know poo is coming out but she seemes to be straining.

Don’t give up on her!! Keep bathing her vent and try to keep it clean.i used epsome salts when my little one had the same issue. Use a Q-tip to keep the poop from her vent and cleaned. I soaked the tips in witch hazel. Also, keep it moisturized...some say Vaseline or coconut oil. I used hemmoroid cream and keep an eye on her. You can also spray Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial to keep the vent cleaned. I had one person suggest to attempt to push it back in....that didn’t work for me. My little one cried for 4 days and I thought I was making it worse. She slept standing up. After 6 days it went in by itself. She also pooped out what felt like a stone that obstructed her vent. Just keep her bathed and warm. She will get cold quickly. You might want to blow her feathers dry with a hair dryer set on low the. Get her back into the brooder.

I'm having a similar issue. She's a day old bantam so she's super tiny. Her vent is tiny. But it's protruding. She passed a bit of poo since I've had her that's how I noticed. It was at first just a small bubble in the center of her vent but now it sticks out. What can I do she won't stop crying.

I'm having a similar issue. She's a day old bantam so she's super tiny. Her vent is tiny. But it's protruding. She passed a bit of poo since I've had her that's how I noticed. How is she doing?
Is she able to poop at all?

Constipation may be the problem, but you will want to keep the tissue moist with anti-inflammatory cream or similar ointment. The prolapse needs to go back in, can you push it in after it's cleaned and you apply a bit of ointment?

I suspect she's crying because she's not able to poop with the prolapse.
I don't think I've seen one in a chick so young. You may be able to fix it, but it's very possible you may not too - all you can do is try.

Sorry to flake on you…I was looking at your photo and saw your thumb at the top and thought that was her prolapse. So sorry!!

when my little one had hers, she cried non stop. I would soak her behind in water and used hemorrhoid cream along with anti-biotic ointment. She had such trouble and pooped out after a couple of days what appeared to be a pebble or small pea. It was accumulated poop that was stuck.
Keep her moist for sure and if you wash out her back side, make sure to dry her off. She’s a little thing and the wet will make her cold.
Stay on it and be sure to check your other chicks for pasty butt too.

I have been checking on her she poops just fine and it's usually when I'm messing with her hiney. She always poops on my hand. She has stopped crying on day 2 and after about 3 days with the ointment she seems to be doing alot better. It looks normal until she starts peeping really loud when I take her to put ointment on it, then it pops back out. I guess we shall see what happens as she gets a little bigger.

That is actually very good news. Don’t give up on her! It’s goods she’s pooping. The unspeakable things I did to my chick to help her along….keep up with the ointment and keep her bum clean and dry.
You’re doing a great job My little one peeped for about 2 weeks.

She ended up dying. I'm losing most of my bantams idk if they are just more fragile or what. I bought about 18 of them and have 11 left. Idk what to do. I have another one who is lethargic now and not wanting to eat or drink. The last 3 I saw they were like that and I gave them save a chick with a syringe. It seemed to speed up their dying. Bc within an hour they were gone. This breaks my heart I'm so angry at tsc bc they refuse to do anything about it. Like oh we sold u a bunch of sick chicks too bad. Sorry about your luck. Yet they refund you for feed that your animals end up not liking. I always give new chicks medicated feed and I put a tiny bit of corid in their water just to make sure they don't get sick like 2-3mls per gallon. My brooder is super clean and I do a deep clean every 3 days. Idk what I'm doing wrong with these. I have about 50 hens and chicks total and yes I've lost some due to FTT but never 7 out of one batch. I've lost a total of 7 out of all of them before this.
