This year I will actually be taking some poultry to the fair. I'm going to take market ducks. :) And my performance goats too along with a few miscellaneous projects.
Sorry about the cockerel, that stinks. :/ They're looking really nice! Good luck at the fair with them!

Thank you you too!!!

Here's a better picture of the 8 month pullet so excited to show her!

I'm not really familiar with cochins. They aren't really too common around here. I am going to start hatching for my county fair. It is in July.

they're awesome birds to have! I am not hatching for fair this year... i was not ahead of the game and missed my chance

Mine is in June, it takes up to 8 months for a Cochin to mature

Yup. I'm not surprised. Most LF don't finish growing until 12-16 months. Sometimes even 18 months. Unless you start hatching out in the Fall, which most people do not, you don't have the liberty of having a mature bird to exhibit. But the great thing is, everyone else is in the same boat. Everybody is hatching out their birds right about now. Unless they have some of last years birds that they didn't decide to cull or throw in a breeding pen, chances are everybodys bringing birds hatched right about now. You'll all be in the same boat.

Yeah I say 8 months as when they can be shown but preferably 1 year old. I'll definently be hatching in June and May this year for next year...
I probably won't be in the same boat as anyone, no one really shows slower growing Asiatic breeds, so if they are hatching right there birds will be at least 4 months or 5 for state fair, which isn't a bad time for faster growing breeds. 1 year old is always the best though

This pullet finally laid her first egg! And if my day couldn't get any better I saw the Cock breed her! I still have to crack this one and check fertility

It is to late to hatch eggs for this year's show season but I would like some from these 2 for next years season that are over a year.

Here's the Cock
