In her defense, she was probably right. I think she figured out the only reason I took that class was because there were a lot of girls in it.

awww i’m sorry. My girls kind a run to but if you hold out your hand like a boat they climb in. unfortunately because I have to treat clover so often and check on her she doesn’t like to be held

Since Clover doesnt like to be held because you "treat" her with medical exams and such, how about "treating" her with food, such as a mealworm for example? (Gotta love the English language; there is a reason English is considered one of the most difficult languages to master.)
1) At first, just offer her a food treat from your hand. Dont pick her up or hold her at all. 2) Once she is eager to accept the offered treat, pick her up and immediately offer her a treat with your other hand. After she accepts the food treat, immediately let her go. No exams, photos sessions, etc, at all. In the beginning, only hold her until she accepts the food treat, then release her immediately. Hold her just a little longer each time before you give her the food reward, and likewise just a little longer before you let her go, until she is perfectly comfortable & relaxed being held.
Taking it even further, after Clover understands being held means a food reward (mealworm?) is coming, you can offer her your hand/palm and encourage her to step/hop onto your hand by extending the food reward with your other hand, at the place you want her to hop up.
It might take a little time and patience for Clover to re-learn that being held and handled is a great thing. Especially if she already negatively associates being held with exam "treatments." On that note, many chickens don't much like being held in the first place. Meaning it might not be your exams and treatments that caused her reluctance, just her innate disposition, personality and the fact that she is a chicken. Still, i think with a little time and patience, you can encourage her to Love being held, by offering a good food reward incentive.
Since you are a teacher by profession, you no doubt have tons of patience. Being a teacher also means you understand what motivates little kids & how they learn. Little dogs, little chickens, etc, etc arent so different! You could use clicker training to help Clover learn even faster, but she should learn fairly quickly either way. Because chickens are definitely motivated by food!

Reminds me of the time in high school where I took Child Development class and the teacher refused to give me a fake baby to take care of because she said it would pass away in my care in less than 24 hours.

Mine would probably die in .. 3 mins. I am not good with children
