hi guys. my neighbor gave me 6 eggs for my broody hen. therefore i have 5 7or 8 wk old chicks with an incredibly good mum ( hence it is very hard to get to close to them... she attacks me all the time). my hubby tried to catch some today to get a better look, only managed to pick up two to photograph... so am posting some pics here as interested in opinions.
My neighbor is unsure of his breeds, but i think they are all bantum... and i definitely have a silkie in one of them, which i think could b my only hen? to me the rest all look like roos but like i said i have had difficulty getting close to check there tail feathers etc.
any feedback re breed/s or sex would be very welcomed
My two fav chicks, rusty(more red and brown than the two brown) and snow(white with feathers)( not fluff -the silkie) escaped our photo shot but the two chicks that look the same didn't -agatha is hopefully not a roo ( pretty crazy hair -viking eyeliner) But i have terrible luck with my chickens so am thinking 4 roos and a fluff ball hen?

I am definitely seeing some cockerels, but I really need pictures of each one to asses gender of individual birds.

Birds in pictures #1, #2, #3, and #6 are cockerels, simply based upon color pattern and comb/wattles. :) Might be spotting an extra cockerel in #5, if it's similar in appearance to the others pictured individually....but that's debatable. The other three, it remains to be seen until we can see them up close. They're adorable! :love

Hi I just wanted to acknowledge your reply to my post. I have been trying to get some pics to put up but they have all turned out blurred as they pretty fast little dudes - dudes as in my husband told me this morning three were all sitting up on my porch fence trying to crow - so tomorrow i guess i wake up early too to see for myself. Sigh.
Thank you though for your reply. K

Yes, I think I have 4 Roos. White one I am sure is a Roo.
The more mixed colored two that look similar I am the smallest bit hopeful that the one with the darker head ( in the close up picture and also closer to the camera) may be pullet but they prob both Roos. And the more darker rusty red - I think is also a Roo?
