4-month old Australorp--hen or roo?

They all run when I try to pet them. I haven't tried holding them since they were small and then had to go out of town a whole month. Think I missed my opportunity with these girls, but they will come close to me--just not close enough to touch--they know who gives them treats!
I have found that the best way to re-train them to be calm and let you handle them with ease is what I've done: I put mealworms in one pocket, black sunflower seeds in the other. I'll go into the run and take a boat cushion (yes, a boat cushion!) in with me and I sit my big behind right down in the run with them...kinda puts you at "their level" (it's a good thing I don't have neighbors close by...they'd think I was insane!). I just sit there very quietly, and I'll talk to them softly just jibber-jabbering away. I take some treats and put them in my palm and just hold them there. Out of curiosity one (or more) will eventually come up to you. When they do take a treat they'll peck kinda hard but it's not intentional...they're just chickens and they want that treat! Don't try to reach out to pet them at that point...keep talking, etc. You'll know when the time is right to slowly pet them...sometimes it takes several "boat cushion" trips to the run over a period of time but eventually they will "get it".....just an idea from me to you...good luck!!

I have 2 that I thought were both hens. Both 4-months old. One has a much larger comb and wattle than the other...
100% rooster! It sure will be handsome though! Beautiful!
