4 months still not sure

That's the day after I got them april 21 my neighbor who has chickens for years said she thinks they were 3.5 wks old when I got them that makes them 18 wks.just wondering if that sounds right

In the July 8th pic they look much darker and more like pullets. They could be close to laying so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you

Do roosters make holes in the dirt to sit in?...both mine are doing that
Hens and Roos both make holes in the dirt for dirt bathes.

I would guess a hen from the darker coloring, the dark wash down the front of the legs, but seeing if there are saddle feathers in the picture would help. Pointy saddle feathers are a cockerel.

I got th present from a friend..I was told they looked 3.5 weeks...anyway that was around april 26th which would put them at 17 weeks ."....correction: april 21st so 18 weeks....I thought I read if it was a rooster it would drfinitely be unmistakeable long before 18 weeks....

This is a pic I just took trying to show the tail feathers...and the legs....I see the rooster above has very yellow legs.....I have one more ill try to post....... Also if anyone agrees or disagrees with my age estimate by all means let me know....thank you all!!

My gut tells me that they're both hens. Crowley is just a little closer to point of lay. With this change occurring around 17-18 weeks and not before, I doubt that Crowley is a roo. Just my two cents

Several members of my family own Barred Rocks, and there is a great variance in comb and wattle size among their girls.
Keep us posted!
