4 of 6 TSC chicks are gone

ok i just bought chickens from tsc (6) 4 pullets 2 rosters i think they are now in my basement in a big tub w/ a heat lamp how long should they stay there and should i keep them together when i transfer them to the barn out back how old should they be before i put them in the barn i have more but if you could anser that

Thanks Cathy. I just don't understand it. I've never lost chicks this late in the game. They are all well over a week old. They came from Mt Healthy via TSC as a mixed bantam group.

Any ideas?

I had some pasty butt with my chicks, last year. After reading up on what can cause it I thought it was the vitamin-water plus it was too warm in their brooder. I changed them to plain water and raised their lamp a little and I didn't have any more problems.

ETA: The only other thing that might have caused it was that green gel that I gave them when they first arrived. That is the only thing that was really different from the other times when I brooded chicks. I think that the gel plus the vitamin-water was just too much. Is that all that you have left is just 2 chicks?

I wonder if it's a problem with the birds? Some illness or something? Our local TSC asked me yesterday if we lost any of ours, apparently customers have lost several.
