4 out of 5 Roos? plz say it isn't so!

I'm not sure how to locate local ones. I too am worried about leaving Amelia by herself. She's very tender and might not handle it very well.

A happy ending for my little flock...a sad one for me. My husband talked to a farmer that is willing to take the whole flock. He talked, and talked, and talked about his chickens. There is no doubt that he loves them. They will free range on several acres and they will have each other. I tried every which way to see what would be best for Amelia. I finally decided to keep her with her brothers.

Thanks to all of you!

On the Georgia thread many recommended Penny's Little Gem Hatchery. Both she and her husband Lee are delightful. We are visiting them on Sun and picking out our 10 chicks/pullets.

Just FYI, I got the original 5 on a "loaner" for the day to take reference pictures for a client that commissioned an oil for her kitchen. I was told that I could return them. It took several days of "posing" them since they kept falling asleep and well...when awake wouldn't be still. Needless to say, after a few days of this, my husband didn't even ask...he just simply stated I guess I need to build a coop

So now, the coop is one day from being ready, the roosters with their sister will move to a nearby farm, and I am picking up my "new" 10 girls on Sunday.

I am so very sad. They are my babies. They take naps (even at 5 wks) in my lap, I have enjoyed each of their personalities, and I will never hear them crow. Today my meal worm kit arrived. I will treat them a handful of their organic meal worms before they go tomorrow.

I plan on visiting them later in the Summer when it won't be quite as painful.
