Sorry i keep panicking and making posts but this morning i have found 4 soft shell eggs in my coop- i only have 4 POL is it possible each one has laid one? or could one bird have laid a few? i have two birds that were sisters from the same hatch could each of them laid two?

I have put plenty of oyster shell around. I just a bit worried. All the eggs look fairly small so i am assuming and hoping young birds just starting to lay. i weas expecting a couple more over the next few months as they start laying but i think 4 softshells is alot?

How old are they? If they are new layers, a glitch is completely normal. As long as you are offering OS, but keep an eye on it. Make sure all the girls are doing well, and acting normal. As long as very one looks good, just make sure that they don't keep laying soft shell eggs. Otherwise, you can offer them back there own egg shells. Some people like to bake them and crush them and make it fancy, but I find it works fine to just give them the whole shell after I crack the egg.

They are just about to come into lay, potentially first eggs

I have 6 established girls, I rescued all a variety of ages, youngest was already a year when I got them so not experience this young stuff before as the 4 POL i got only 4 weeks ago, someone contacted a local vet and had raised them from chicks but couldn't keep them and I took them in, none had laid at that point and one has been definitely been laying ok the past week ( well the size of eggs is all over the place).

But very odd I have had no hard shell eggs this morning just 4 soft my brown bovans (two) have been laying most mornings, Will go check again in 15!

*edit* - Normal eggs from the bovans

Since they are just starting to lay eggs, I wouldn’t worry too much. You’ll see all kinds of strange eggs with new layers. Just be sure to provide Layer feed, grit, oyster shells, and clean water. I find that sometimes oyster shells can be too big in size (like small gravel), and some chickens don’t really like to eat it when it’s in larger pieces like that. In that case you can try to look for smaller shaved oyster shells or try crushing the larger pieces or feed the chickens their own egg shells.

Id say you've been answered so ill throw this in for comical relief.
Its like soft shell crab. The eggs are molting.

Now a serious question. Has anyone deep fried a soft shell egg like a soft shell crab?
