Adam has a much redder comb than all other chicks of the same age.

At this age (10 weeks), that could indicate a slow-maturing cockerel, or an early-maturing pullet.

The no-crowing is an encouraging sign.

Unfortunately, it could still be a few more months before you really know for sure.

This is Adam. Both are about 12.5 weeks.

They still both look like pullets. Pea combs grow very slowly in hens but pretty quickly in roosters.

Yup. My 10 month old Americana only recently finished growing her comb.

Those are probably saddle feathers, an indicator of a cockerel. You haven't heard any crowing?

update. They appear to be both males. One (Adam) crowed this morning.
