I have a large batch of chicks, in a 10 x 10 coop that I hatched out. This chick is about 5-6 weeks old, fine yesterday. today I found it laying in the dirt. Picked it up it was really hot, it has strength in the legs but only to push and then flops back. Mixed up some vitamins a little on the strong size dosed it some, it drank well from a syringe that I supplied droplets from. No signs of improvement. Any idea what this could be I have had baby chicks with this issue out of incubator. But not one that was well on it's way this old.

I don’t have any guesses, but I would continue to offer fluids and vitamins/electrolytes. Make sure the vitamins have riboflavin, which is good for legs. It could be an injury, and it has become dehydrated or weak from not eating. What do the droppings look like? At this age, coccidiosis can be a common illness which causes lethargy, weakness, not eating, runny poops, and puffing up. If those symptoms sound familiar, it is treated with Corid from the feed store. Can you describe where the chick was and the conditions before you found it?

Still offering fluids, chicks seems stuck on its side as the legs just want to push back. Chick is trying to eat I'm not sure its actually picking up the food. Maybe neurologic issue. Not coccidiosis I'm familiar with that and all other chicks are thriving. Very sad it's a nice chick, it might have gotten stepped on by one of the others we will continue to offer vit and food.
