4 week old chicks have been evicted from inside to outside grow out brooder/coop

Happy to report chicks are just fine out in their brooder/coop. No MHP either. They go in & out as they please during the day. Mostly out, scratching, sitting on the outside roost bar, looking the older hens in the eye, chests puffed up....too funny. Haven't really been out too much, still fighting the allergies. The high tree pollen is not helping matters. Suppose to start raining tonight and for several days that should help a lot.

The point in putting them out is to completely wean them off heat. Obviously they're your chickens and you can do as you wish, but I took heat away at 4 weeks and my highs were more like your lows at night.
Thank you. It has been mild now at night and we are going to remove the lamp this evening since they seem to be thriving outside in their new environment.

Relocated our 3-week-old chickies outside today - won't deal with the dust all over the basement like last time ... We hacked a small crate to house the heat lamp and installed that inside the A-frame tractor. Food and water were placed immediately outside the crate's door so it would be easy to find in the new environment. We will start turning the heat down next week, and expect to be off it by the end of April. Temperatures are still expected to hit freezing overnight for at least a week.
