So I am currently sharing a coop between my 4 week old guinea fowl and 6 silkie chicks (*day old!) I sectioned off a corner of the coop so that they were separated from one another. However, one chick got out and the guineas left it alone.

Just wondering if anyone else out there coop shares with guineas and chicks? If so, how goes it?

I do plan on letting the guineas free range soon, just not quite yet. They are still awfully little and I worry about them getting picked off by predators,

I am getting 25 more baby chicks in a month, and the guineas will be OUT of the coop by then...hopefully even have their own house.

Many thanks in advance-
Amy

Keets and the peeps. Happily separated?

Just to follow up, it has been a few days since the chicks moved in to the coop with the guineas. The guineas are quite aggressive, flying at the wire barricade between them and the chicks constantly! I am surprised by their behavior, but the chicks are safe and haven't even really noticed the activity on the other side of their fence. They seem blissfully unaware of the danger so nearby, perhaps they are too busy growing!

I have some about 5 weeks old that hatched and are with the chicks they hatched with without issues, and I also have 6 guineas that were raised with my main flock 40 birds and they roost, lay eggs and spend time in the run until they are all let out to range. The Males do a little chasing but overall no problems.

Great thanks! This is helpful info! I do not know the sex of the guineas yet, as they are still pretty young. All the chicks are doing great today, even a few that managed to escape their small penned area and were hanging out with the keets!

I officially have year old guineas and hens that were raised together. See my thread about possibly killing the guineas they are so mean. They will chase and attack my peacocks who are easily twice their size.
