4 week old keet pecked and really sick- what do I do?

Hello folks!
I am new to this so any help would be so appreciated! I picked up two four week old keets from a breeder yesterday and when i got them home one has obviously been pecked really badly. He had a wound near the base of tail the feathers (and had lost some), had laboured breathing, was 'puffed up' and generally was no where near as flighty and energetic as it mate. I made sure it had access to food,water, warmth etc but he does not seem to be improving. After a few hours I cleaned the wound very gently and popped him back into the brooder but I don't think he is drinking or eating. i've even tried offering some scrambled eggs and some mushed up chicken starter hoping he would give that a go. Is there anything else I can do? The other keet seems to be fine. Thank you in advance! p.s Oh and I do believe that the breeder didn't realise that one of the keets was not 100%.

Sounds like you should take the sick one back

Alright sounds a little sick that explains the being pecked on,
so you need to get some Probiotic & Electrolyte to add to the
water then cook up some egg's with out shells and mash up
good and feed as the egg has every thing your keet's need
and give this to all of them till thy eat it all

See if this helps over the next couple of days but personally
I would take back the sick one ....

Thank you so much gander007!! Is there a special Probiotic & Electrolyte solution / powder that I would buy from a pet store or can I just use a tiny amount of the human ones (sorry if that is a stupid question!). I would normally take back the sick bird but I don't think the breeder has any more at the moment and as I want to get them (once healthy!) integrated with some chooks of the same age, I may as well give this my best shot. I would contact the breeder and ask for her suggestions/help - this also gives her the opportunity to know you are having problems with her bird - and maybe compensate with another at a future time.

X2 on taking this one back. Birds instinctively know when a flock mate is sick. It is their job to run off any sick birds so as to protect the flock from predators and disease. In the mean time, you can add human grade probiotics to the water. Just open a powdered capsule and pour it into a quart waterer. Mix it well. Change the water daily and add new probios.

Thank you all so much! I did contact the breeder again but the keet died this morning. The other one however is very healthy.
This website is fantastic too- what a wealth of information!
