I am pretty sure he is a boy from the dark feathering, but he/she is my son's favorite. I need your opinion before driving 2hours to find him another one. 4 weeks old.
Thanks a million

Likely female. I see brown feathers.

here is my male SF- age 3 weeks. Comb is way more prominent! Feathers are coming in more black, as expected.

You give me hope!!
I will wait some more! Mine is definitively more brown than black but I see dark black feathers poking on the chest and legs...

I assume this was a hatchery chick? Good chance of it being female despite the black, some female hatchery quality salmon faverolles have very lousy coloring including black on chests. Mine had some black on her chest, wings and neck but has since shed most of it.
No, from a breeder, hence me worrying about the darker featherings... i will wait and see how the chest comes out I guess...

Do you have a female pic for comparison?
This past order I got only males. In the past I have had females SF from 2 sources. One was Meyer hatchery and the one we got was very dark in coloration-no black feathers though. Then we got some from Sandhill Preservation, and they both were much more typical in color (lighter) to pictures seen of SF. I’ll see if I can find pics.

It was a male in case it could help anybody. Here he is at 11 weeks.
