People have cats or dogs to keep them sane, or should I say 'someone' to talk to; likewise, I have chickens, all hens, they are my pets. I talk to them, and they likewise 'talk' to me. I have a White Leg Horn, that constantly chatters throughout the day. At times I can't find her when approaching nightfall. I get worried and call out for her, her name is Whity Leggy, for lack of a better name. Last night, she scared me thinking stray dogs must have nabbed her and drug her off. She has a storage place she stays in with her sister Regina and 13 little sisters. I desperately called out to she, she must have been mad at me because she did not respond. I left her alone for a few hours while I went shopping for their feed. I finally found her perched quietly at the top of an 8 foot shelving! I was so relieved she was still alive. I took her off the shelve and gingerly hugged her and took her into her sleeping cage. I think she wanted to be hugged and loved on. She is very emotional. Don't tell me chickens do not show emotions.
