4 yr old Head rooster sudden behavior change

I hope it helps. Every situation is different because chickens bring their own personalities and quirks to every situation.

Once I had problems with a red coffee can, I was carrying feed in.

Birds age, and often get a little cantankerous when they do so. I would consider a 4 year old rooster, a pretty mature rooster. Might be near the end.

Yes, that could be true. Near the end? I thought they lived to 8-10 years old?
You mean near the end of his productive life?
I don’t really need him for fertility as I am done with the possibilities of more roosters.
I think I will stick with pullet orders from now on.

Well they can live to 8 or 9 years old, but I will admit, I have never had a bird even get close to that. An 8-9 year old bird, is not real common. To me, 4 years old is pretty old, and at that time I would not be surprised to have him gone one day.

Maybe the climate allows for longer lives. I know people on here post that they have old birds, but it is rather an oddity not a norm. And of course, a lot of people do not keep older birds.
