$40 for Indian Blue week old peachicks !!!!!!!!

My Hubby got me 4 a couple weeks ago for my birthday....they were a few weeks old and he paid $25 each plus the nice guy gave my grandson and I a huge box of eggs (peafowl & guinea) to see if we could hatch...he was going to throw them into a tree soon thought they were bad......so far 6 pea's have hatched and guineas are growing..we can see them moving. The story on the pea's is unbelievable it is under Miracle!! on this thread.

So technically.....he paid $100 for 10 chicks.....$10 a chick...pretty good ay? lol And that doesn't include who knows how many of the 30 guinea eggs that might hatch!!!

There is an auction on Ovabid now where 3 weeks peachicks are even less than $10.00?!

I guess it depends on your location and how many folks have and/or want pea chicks where you live. Where I live, they are not that easy to come by, so that is probably the reason why I don't seem to have any trouble getting $40.00 per pea chick. I only have one adult pair and I usually get some chicks hatch out in the spring and again in the fall. I list them on our local craigslist and lsn, and they are sold within 24 hours. Sometimes I will have someone who is greedy and wants them all, and then sometimes I have someone who is a no-show, but I always have a waiting list to fall back on. As my peahen starts laying, I will take eggs and put them under broody silkie hens and let them hatch out, so I have a staggered hatch of babies; my peahen usually ends up hatching out the last 5-7 of them herself. The most I ever have to sell at one time is 6-8. (I have whites and pieds.) Helps to pay their feed bill.

you are a good person...I ALWAYS under sell my stuff....I tried to sell at the farmer's market. everyone else was selling eggs for 3.00 a dz. I had mine for 1.00, they asked me to not come back. oh well.
I had some mille fleur d'uccles a man asked how much for 6 eggs...I said , they are free, I will get more. oh well....that's just how we are I guess..

At the bird swap meets here, we usually see india blue peachicks (or sometimes pied) at ~2-3 weeks priced anywhere from $15-30... but only the people new to the swaps end up buying them for that because 90% of the time, the people selling just want to get rid of them and will sell them for $5-10 a chick at the end before they leave the field for the day. But then, these are the same people who sell their peacocks for anywhere from $20 (yr old india blues) to $125, but they only ever have india blue and pied. I have never seen any other color for sale and had only seen whites once in my life prior to looking up the colors. I thought for a while (years ago before I knew ANYTHING) that pied was just india blue mixed with white because those were the only colors I'd ever seen!

I guess the amount you sell for depends on what people are willing to pay and what you're willing to take. No one here would pay $40 for a peachick, I think. Definitely not an india blue one anyway.

Ours start at $25 ea and go up from there. It's kind of funny we have one guy that has been calling every week and he finally said yesterday he was waiting for the price to go down. I laughed and told him they were getting ready to go up since I can just about tell the sex of the older ones. I can't wait to see if he calls back next weekend. Actualy this year for some reason chick sales have been better than last year. We have hatched quite a few more than last year and they are selling pretty steady.

Steve , guys like that, get a higher price the next week. Or better yet, they were sold.

I also start mine at 25.00 and only sell them after they are 4 weeks old. even have a waiting list on some of the rare colors. I like to sell most of mine at 3 months.
