not saying nothing about anyone on here...but i recently, about 4 weeks ago watched a bird sell for $125 in a market that is lucky to get $35 for a adult tom, and the person selling was braging about takeing the eggs from a ditch when they mowed..doesnt seem right that a breed someone has realy put a lot of time and $ into sells for $35 and some eggs from a ditch that hatched and grew off sells for soooooooooo much. i'm sure that isnt the case here just wanted to comment on what i had recently seen.

Indeed... especially since if they found the eggs in a ditch they may have been Eastern Wild in which case they likely needed (and probably didn't have) a permit to own.

In our area you are lucky to get $10 - $20 for a turkey. These folks want stuff for nothing. I advertised some ducks for $5 each, and a woman called wanting them killed, dressed, and DELIVERED for $5 each. And this was before the economy went.

I am amazed but i guess if you want spmething bad enough. I saw plain jane mixed breed roosters going for near $20 at auction last time, same place turkeus go for that!! I thought. I need to raise my hen prices, lol. I plan to sell my poults. Cant get any buyers for my eggs. Poults go for $10-$15 adults for $20-$25. So poults are better. If they dont sell, i ll eat them.

I have seen eggs and birds go high at auctions myself, what people where questioning was "I never let my turkeys go for less than $150". Which means to me that is the usual sale price.

Steve

Is questioning another word for liar? Other than you, who else is calling me a liar?

I am not calling you a lair. I dont know you. I think we are all just surprised. Like someone said it might just be your location vs ours. I have seen places where they sell their Day Old chicks for $100! Unbelieveable to me, but someone buys them. So again i am wondering what these expensive turkeys look like.

I sold the turkeys. Why would I take there picture first. They were sold for meat to most likey a restraurant since we have alot of farm to table restaurants here. There is a demand and as far as I know, I am the only breeder in the area. What are you expecting to see? You have seen a heritage turkey before havent you? If not I can give you a link.

You young lady seem to have a bad attitude. Just thinking out loud but if you are selling a bird for restaurant use, at 150 a bird you are making about $6.00 a lb for a dressed out bird. If you cannot show a picture why not post a copy of the sales receipt, no reputable restaurant will purchase food for cash money in case of lawsuits. What do you think about that?

Wow excuse me for asking. I thought perhaps it was an awesome bird, like a penciled red palm from porters or something. You know having a sucky attitude about something like this where someone is honestly inquiring about your birds reveals ALOT about your character
