4H projects

What are all the projects you can do in 4H? I'm planning on being in it next year.

Make wooden nest boxes. We have made a scarecow, with a chicken head. Also, wooden chicken silhouettes and had the kids decorate them, evergreen wreaths for the holidays, bake cookies or make lap blankets and donate them to a senior center.

I am doing culinary, photography, container gardening, and just plain horticulture this year along with my animal projects. There really is a lot you can do so look through the list and see what catches your interest.

I'm always glad to see new 4-H members!

It depends on your area. Some clubs only have a few projects, some have tons. It ranges from cooking to sewing to horses to guinea pigs.

There is an enormous number of different projects you can do in 4-H. It all depends on your interests and what you can find locally in terms of support and encouragement.

My daughter has had an ongoing poultry project for three years now and we've done everything from hatching her own birds to feed preference experiments to showing in an APA show. That's literally just Scratching The Surface.

She's also doing a robotics project Lego NXT and her club project this year is on Florida wildlife.

Last year the club project was on marine biology.

We had wanted to pick up an aerospace project as well, but could not work out the time. Maybe next year.

There is a project to suit just about any interest if you go looking for it.

I would love to see more 4H clubs with pigeon lofts, either for showing or racing. It can teach you guys a lot.
