4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

According to the English book of Common Prayer, "Easter Day is the first Sunday after the full moon which happens upon, or next after the 21st day of March; and if the full moon happens upon a Sunday, Easter Day is the Sunday after."
Why such an odd definition? March 21 is the vernal equinox -- the day on which the length of daylight equals the length of darkness as the days are lengthening in the spring. The traditional Jewish calendar is based on moon phases, which is how the phase of the moon enters into the definition -- when they were determining what day Easter would fall on, they deferred to the Jewish practice of using moon phases to decide the timing of holidays.
Using this method, Easter can only occur between March 22 and April 25.

Sadly, with some of the prizes we are offering, it could happen but I hope not.
In post 1 there is a link to the article. It says important information here but Gold Feather Members have 60 days that they can edit threads so we are good there too. Thanks for thinking ahead though.

The way I have my incubators it will be hard to put the clock right next to them with date, so the best i can do is make a video and post to youtube and put the link here. That way the difference between the video time and youtube posting should be very close. I should have 3 incubators going maybe more. does anyone have any better ideas.

How is everyone doing Im very excited , everyone find all the eggs they need for the hatch , got your bators warming up .

Getting excited & anxious all at the same time!! I'm watching for the mailman like a hawk, waiting for my eggs to show up... Hoping my eggs for the swap made it to their destination unharmed...

Maybe it wasn't a good idea to do the NYD hatchalong as my very first incubator hatch... Or maybe I should just relax and enjoy it instead of stressing!

New coolerbator fine tuning for NYD Hatch along.

Since yesterday tryiing to fine tune the new diy coolerbator
1.)I've added 3 air holes, no discernable effect on temps.
2.) Had DH try to lower the water heater thermostat to no avail (yes I get a wafer would have been better, but he bought this one so I gotta use it for now, will upgrade in future...)

Still the temps were going to 105-106 b/f auto-shut-off

3.) Bought 40 Watt bulbs (decided the 60 watt was just way overkill for size of cooler)

Running w/ 40 Watt it took about 4 hrs to heat up from 60F but is now at 103 steedy , w/ airholes open (argh!)

I'm going to put a masson jar of water in to simulate eggs to see if that changes things.
Getting a little frantic to get this working (ie not over heating) to set eggs Tue!

I do have a dimmer switch to start playing w/ but I'm suprized the 40Watt bulb only made a 2 degree diff. eekl!
