I was going to do that also, but the BF said that the chicken nipples could still freeze and I would be in the same boat as before.

I havent had a problem with them freezing and its been pretty cold here. Before I put the heater in there, it was freezing every day. The bucket heater I bought is one that is safe for plastic buckets and it sits right down at the bottom of the bucket so I think the warm water keeps the nipples from freezing. My girls are drinking water, cuz I have to fill it every couple of days...

It's going to be tough to wait till Tues to get the eggs started. I recently bought a mini mag LED flashlight and tried it on one of the dark Marans eggs and it worked really well. I sure hope those dark eggs develop so I can have the pleasure of actually seeing what is going on in them.

Can you tell me how you did this as I have some Maran eggs I'll be setting on Tuesday so I will want to try candling them a week or so in. I was told I wouldn't be able to see in them, but if you managed it with an LED I wanna try too!

I think someone brought the darn flu home with him or I'm getting it from my PT therapist who doesn't believe in sick days. I'm not happy about this either. I am the biggest baby when it comes to being sick, I got the chills, headache, I'm tired. What the heck, who else is getting this crap.

I do my head hurts.My throat hurts one minute im burning up the next minute im freezing. I cant stand been sick. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

My eggs didn't come today either...

I was hoping to have them so they could sit for a bit before I put them in the bator...

I'm sorry they didn't arrive. I was pretty certain I would be in the same boat, but the mailman was just running really late today...maybe that is the case with yours too? If not..I hope they come on Monday! Is there tracking info you can check on them with?

When I use the mini mag I don't necessarily see the embryo or veins all the time so I look for the shadow that develops as well. I can always see that.

My girls seem to be taking turns laying eggs...if Ava lays on day one, Raquel will skip that day and lay the next... GAH. Looks like I'll have a small set this time, but that's ok. I'm starting to get anxious now and want to get them set

I have no clue what I am setting. I shipped all my good eggs out and I don't think I have any eggs coming in until later on. Guess I will set whatever is laid this weekend.

Prior to this new LED, I just put dark eggs in the incubator and left them alone as I couldn't see anything, well I usually could make out the air cell, but nothing else. I only received this dark egg today and tried the LED on it, so there really isn't much to see, but the light did seem to penetrate the interior well. I'll let you know how it goes after they've been incubating a bit.
