4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

Whats the volume of the water in the water bags.

I apologize - the explanation of a thermostat was a general thing - not directed at an individual and as far as being testy - I spent half the weekend on STEMI pts so I feel your pain.

Good luck. Stay calm and incubate on.

I have 3 ziplock sandwich bags (double bagged) full of water... Not sure what that would equal in volume. I checked it before I went to bed last night and the temp was 102.5. I'd say it had sat that way for 2-3 hours, so I turned it down another 1/2 turn... Haven't gotten down there yet to see what my temp is this morning...

Question: IS fresher better?? I have enough eggs as of today to set, but i will be getting more eggs tommmorow and tuesday morning, should i replace the fresher eggs with the eggs I picked last week? If i just kept the ones i have the oldest ones would be 6 days old. Am i making sense? Not sure... ahaha

Ummm, I believe the BYC by-laws require you to set any and ALL eggs with ANY possibility of viability. At least, this is how the PA Thread rolls.

I'm wanting to incubate more eggs than what I have. I'd like to try store eggs but we don't have a traders Joe's around here and I haven't ever seen a carton of eggs marked fertile. Do you guys know of any other stores that may have them? Anything that I should look for?
If you have a local farm store (we have a cheese factory right up the road) they may sell fresh free-range eggs. You just have to ask them if they have roos ranging with their flock.

This morning my bator is sitting at 100.6 with only a fluctuation down to 100.4 overnight... I gave it another 1/8 turn... Hopefully that puts me in that magic range, then I'm not touching it until I put my eggs in!

I thought the PA thread said you had to find any and all eggs with in a 365 mile radius and set every single one of them (as long as you hadn't given/sold them to another Pennsylvanian)?
