I haven't been checking here much today... My youngest DS had a BBgame this morning, then I spent the rest of the day spending some QT with the kids... Star Wars Monopoly (I won

), Jenga.. The out to the barn to do chores a bit early, now gonna snuggle down for a movie and some popcorn!!

On a side note, I decided to give each of my family members a dozen eggs for a family Christmas present, but my girls decided to slow way down on their laying... I'm freaking out cuz, I'm not going to have enough for everyone, but today they all decided to give me an egg (except Prim, but she has an excuse!!)! If they give me 11 more between now and Monday moring, I'll have enough!!! Go ladies!!! Lay those eggs!!!

Well, we lost the little duckling that was weak. The other two still seem to be going pretty well. I keep making sure that the little blind duckling eats and drinks. It's too darned cute... When I pick it up, it starts going crazy trying to eat/drink, even if it's not near food/water, simply because it knows that I'm picking it up to give it a drink and something to eat. We also came home to a GOOD surprise. I did the last egg check for the night (sometimes I'll get a duck egg early, or a chicken egg late) and picked up a chicken egg that had a few speckles. Once I got it in the house, I realized that it wasn't a chicken egg, but a turkey egg!! Our very first turkey egg! I'm so excited. I'm waiting until next week to put the duck and turkey eggs in, so that I don't have ANYBODY hatching out for a week before them, to reduce humidity fluctuations during pip, zip and hatch. Hopefully I'll get a few more turkey eggs (as well as duck eggs) to put into the incubator!!!

I had posted that we lost one of our chickens last week. I thought I didn't have any pictures of her all grown up, but I was going through pictures tonight and found some! My daughter will be happy. It was her chicken.



And one with my dog. The chicken that died is the one right by him. None of the chickens are really afraid of him, but she didn't even steer clear. She just acted like he was another chicken. Heh, heh. (She helped train him, as she would peck him right in the nose if he got too nosey. LOL )

Aww, I'm sorry it didn't make it, but glad the other two are doing well! I also h ope you get a few more duck eggs and turkey eggs so you can try hatching in the new year!!!

I think that's such an awesome idea, and that may be my resolution, to make things throughout the year so I can give them to everyone next Christmas!

SleepyOwl, your daughter's hen was so pretty! I'm sorry you lost her. Your dog is awesome as well! What beautiful birds. My dog keeps sticking his nose up their butts, LOL.

Aspen, the brooder house is a mess right now since I piled extra "stuff" in it recently. Will be doing a full clean out NYD weekend though in prep for goslings. Oh and we have quail in the laundry room lol, need to carry them out to the brooder house since they just came home from hatching at our sons school.

Thats alright! My building is a mess right now, it needs to be cleaned ever so badly, but I decided to work on all the runs first. What are you going to do w/ the quail?

I'm terribly sorry about your poor duckling! It always makes me so sad, but on the bright side he is in a much better place.
