I didn't lock my eggs down today, but I'll be doing it tomorrow. I wanted to give the Seramas and extra day since there is still way too much room in them and I don't want to risk losing them. I'm still at 10 eggs (or 5 and 5. 5of my own and 5 serama) which I think is really good with the problems I've been having.
I want to be on the safe side so here is my proof of only 2 eggs left for lockdown. They are both Silky/Polish. I think you only take a picture of first chick hatched after midnight on the 1st if you enter the First New Years Chick contest. Being silkies I bet I have an early hatch. I may also be in the running for worst hatch but still hope they hatch for me. I have buyers for them.
I don't think I will enter anymore hatching contests. I have the worst luck!

Great post on the bucket mouse trap. Would need a ton of salt in the water here to keep it from freezing, but should work slick. May have to set one up, I'm sure though I don't see them, there have to be mice under my shed staying fat on my chicken feed.
I was so disappointed.... All my eggs were developing nicely, but checked before lock down and 9 of 19 stopped. I only had 10 for lock down. I think that is a personal worst for me....
CPL...........count me in after we do dinner..........get over 3500 posts tonight and our farm will give a random prize of mixed hatchlings from NYD (could be ducklings, geese, chickens or a mix of the bunch.)
in lockdown: Sebastopol geese, Ancona ducks, Silver Appleyard ducks, French White Muchsvoy, Khaki Campbell, EE, OE, BC Marans, AM in blue , Lavender, Wheaten and I am sure I am missing something
It was on the news here recently that the Decorah eagles were working on a new nest. If they use the old nest, the cam will be used. If the new nest is used, still shots will be uploaded.
Got my eggs locked down today. I set eggs from some pens that it was their first eggs, so I had a few test hatches and one egg that I knew was pretty old.
