Quote: I thought is was odd too when we first started. Sebbies hatched from ALL white stock with no color in the genetics can "normally" be gender ID'd at hatch by color. Always best to confirm with vent sexing as sometimes oddities will pop up.
Quote: yep............but also know goose eggs dont ship extremely well (worse than chickens) and it takes 6+ eggs shipping to get 2-3 to grow and thats considered good
like the ancona I just hatched.... 5 in lockdown, 1 pipped wrong, one died in shell and one bled kicking its umbilical cutting a vein or something... we have 2
awwww sorry about the other duckling, but at least you got the two! they are very precious jewels! This morning I had two ducklings hatched and one was half out and now when I went for pics she is stiff!!! I almost flipped, she made it that friggen far!!! I pulled her out of the shell and it was filled with globby blood!!!! she musta ruptured her navel veins or something!!! OMG I was so sad!!!! WE ONLY have two ducks and I swear I WILL NEVER EVER HATCH ducks again!! or else I need to do ALOT MORE RESEARCH because I should have done some things different during incubation but I chose dry incubation route.. NOT AGAIN for DUCKS!!!
QUESTION: what kinda dish and depth water do I need for newly hatched ancona ducklings?
