4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

Awesome!!! How many do you have right now? This little guy was chirping....about every 45 seconds or so...a really soft chirp...then suddenly nothing...two minutes passed, then three, then five...I started to wonder whether he was OK, that maybe I had the humidity too high...I double checked the temperature...now ten minutes had passed...Suddenly I heard it...my little guy chirped again and took another tiny bit off od his shell...He's ALIVE!!!

Yay! It's hard work getting that shell off! had to take a break and rest. ^.^

I just have the one out right now... it's the half silkie... that egg was 3/4 the size of the others. :)

Yeah, won't be long..hopefully..could be a while, could be quick. Congrats. I've done that before. Laid down in bed, thought I heard a little peep, listened, heard it again, and jumped out of be to check for a pip, and there it was. Always fun. I have to ask about your water bottle>explain how you have that for humidity..do you have holes in the top, and if so, how many??

Got a few peepers out and drying. Hoping for the rest to pip but I'm not sure how they are doing as I'm trying to keep the lid closed. Checked the most ingenious product design poll and seems all my soldering, micro controller programming, and duct tape doesn't stack up to a water heater made your husband. :/

Hope everyone is having a great hatch!

So somehow my temp dropped on my bator... and the chick is shivering... I need to fix this, but my brooder is warmed, should I put her in there, or wait? it's almost been an hour, and she's more fluffy now, but not super fluffy. She's climbing all over the other eggs, and knocked my thermometer over.. :/

I would get him under the lamp. You can always add a little Beanie baby for the chicks to cuddle up to and they hold the heat nicely.
