Thank I love her dearly, even if she is eating us out of house and home. Our kitten I got in Oct and myself are her flock. The other two dogs aren't fans of her. One tolerates the other wants to rip her throat out, even if she out weighs him by 15 lbs. Stupid Broders

One of my stipulations if I do the Easter hatch is BYC will not be involved which means no huge prizes.

I think this will help simplify things a lot. The other thing I might suggest is that people who suggest a contest and donate a prize are reponsible for handling it. I'm willing to do that. If you have 20 contests going, it's hard for 2 or 3 people to keep track of, especially if they are all on different threads. I also don't think contests should be open to all BYC - they should be those part of the hatch. Just my 2 cents

I think the donation people handling contest could get very tricky though.... Unless there is STRICT guidelines / rules made before the start... These sorta contests are run all the time, like on FB and blogs for the same type of "big" prizes. I believe the most honest way for those special prize contests is open voting to all of BYC. I do think the random posting thing is a very good thing for BYC and helps keep people on the site and get to know each other, I think its pretty equal up that everyone can choose which route is most effective for them to enter.

I have 2 questions.

1) Does anybody remember who won the short story contest besides TMNfarms?

2) Has anybody said they would host the Easter Hatch? (Don't make me go back on my word and decide to host it. If I do, there will be changes that not everybody may like)

Last night was a milestone night at TMNfarm!!! I moved Prim and her babies, now 8 weeks old and the first chickens ever hatched here, to the big coop woth the rest of the flock... I moved them at suppertime and fed in two separate dishes. The chickens didn't seem to care. Too interested in their food. This morning, Prim and her babies were all snuggled together on the ground under the shelf, and all of the adults were on top of the roosts and the shelf. When I fed, they all came out, and Tiny did hassle the chicks a bit, but the chicks backed off and Tiny didn't continue to pursue them. Sisu (one of the Australorps) stood really tall and walked towards them, but didn't peck at them at all. I think it was a success!! (Or am I too optimistic too early??)

I also moved the NYD chicks to the bigger brooder in the barn, since they were flying out of the brooder int he kennel building! We had to search for the 20th chick! She had escaped and was hiding! They seem to be enjoying their increased floor space...
