We have 4 acres here but are looking at moving to 60 acres

If all these Trader Joes eggs hatch Im sending them to you. I looked at the 109 that dropped after 12 hours and a distressing number of them were starting to develope. I sold my husband on thise by saying only about 2 in 12 would develops so we should get a dz or so babies....

I could be in the doghouse in NYD. Plus!!
My secret santa sent me EGGGS!!! So i'm going to sneak them in and redo my number after my quail person comes, don't close it yet!!
( OMG we could have a contest guess how many typos I make in a day on here, but it would be too depressing for me to bear)

khaki campbells are not a dual purpose, they are a very light weight bird laying the most eggs of all breeds. When butchered they are a small table bird and it would take 2 or 3 feed a family (depending on size of family)

Dual purpose with high egg production would be Silver Appleyard (1) and or Welsh Harlequin(2)

Which is why I'm adding some Welsh Harlequin to my little duck bevy this spring.
ok well acutally its b/c I got some TSC ducks a few years ago, then we had a weasle problem and the drakes protected the duckhen to their own peril,
so then I had this very lonely Pekin Duckhen, so after 2 yrs I finally found an adult drake on CL, but he is a handsome Welsh Harlequin (& he arrived oddly enough w/ 4 other ducklings who the woman sore to DH would be girls but alas are all oddly drakes (2 Buff Runners, 1 Pekin) so now logically of course I must get more Welsh Harlequin b/c I only have 1, er I mean b/c they are pretty, er I mean b/c they are dual purpose, and its why I had DH build the 'bator , DUAL Purpose, must remember that phrase, b/c DH asked about "why" again last night...

So, tell us more about Silver Appleyards,
the name is lovely, and I have an apple orchard so perhaps the apple trees require these ducks??!!

I set 5 dozen TJ eggs! As of day 10 they were ALL DEVELOPING!! I am afraid to look at the moment but they were set a while back as a test run. Now I am seriously in trouble with my own husband.

I will see who all is still left by lockdown.

when do button quail get set
my eggs still havent arrived but on a better note i have three broodie silkies that just hatched 9 out of 9 eggs one calico silkie didnt make it though but still good for first time broodies
my one hen had been sitting for 3months and now has four chicks to show for it
two bobwhite eggs went into to lock down today
i see some vaining in some of the eggs i set so exciting

yup and cows and more pigs and on and on....

OHHHHHH we are not showing Mario this... that would be 6x12 +40 chicks. Plus ya know, the ones I'm expecting to hatch... and quail... oopss... WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THESE TRADER JOES ROOSTERS??

My problem is my German temper and I hold grudges forever. (And no, I'm not proud of that)
I wish I was still a teacher but some evil woman had other plans. I thought a house fell on her and Dorothy threw water on her sister but I guess not.
Now, back to your normally scheduled hatch-a-long.

GAWD!! If I live to see the day they hatch then I will still be living in East Bay CA yes! Mine still have an ENJOY BY DATE stamped on their little shells!
