Tonight's game prizes will depend on the number of posts we get on bheps contest thread. If you hit 1000 remember you will be also posting where you looked and didn't find me. If we hit 1000 the prize will be 12 Auto-Sexing Breed hatching eggs LATE Spring/Summer from 4 different breeds.

If you don't hit 1000 we will use that prize again later and the prize will be Other Hatching Eggs and a BYC cookbook

You may start running the count up on that thread now by posting anything you want, sort of last night.

I'm off for chicken chores and dinner then I will be back.

NYD Hatch-along Digest for 12/14 to 12/15
Statistics: All number one!

We are in the waiting phase of the hatch with 17 days to go. Many of us are neglecting our families, Christmas and other duties because the hatch has taken all of our attention.

Themes for today were: Candling, fertility, Celebrity look a likes, cute babies, waiting and contests. Ducks were a bit less of a theme and Quail took over a bit.

MRHeinz is thanked and encouraged for starting this thread and putting up with us! Rum is somehow involved too..

Michaelf has candled hatching eggs from DMrippy. He says they are fertile!(developing?)

Oddly, after the discussion about setting way too many eggs, Brechin is hoping for another box to be on her doorstep! Later we found out that those eggs were indeed there! Setting them before the deadline was asked about.

MarineCorpFarmr has 4 acres and is moving to 60 acres. Chiqita has 1/2 of an acre. TMNfarm has 25 acres. The land belonged to her late husband(my condolences)

mrheinz77 has a temper(I can relate--my last name is Ottman after all). He is not a teacher because someone from Oz messed that up!

ChooksChiks multi-quoted a bunch of stuff. Please read post 3165 if you are covering a Styrofoam bator with a blanket!

Brookhavens posted a Mr. T celebrity photo. Then an Elvis look alike photo.

chiqita is worried about having too many hatch. Brechin too! She already has freezers full of Roos...

The Sheriff is out! Her Roo was not up to the job yet at 21 weeks!

Sally Sunshine can't see into her eggs. sherry57 can see into hers: Post 3227.

Candling advice in the Morning. Bator accidents a bit later-LulieKNC lost 7 eggs in a freak toddler egg toss incident! Future Softball pitcher?

The cutest baby contest was posted and then the cuteness started!

Coffeemama posted an heart warming post about kids helping kids. Read post 3323 and give her a thumbs up! She already has three and she should have hundreds for that story!

Post 3329 has the daily contest update.

Shelshanam says her Rooster plays catch the snow flake! I hope he does not play put your tongue on the flag pole too...

FeyRaine has a broody Cat that sat on her incubator. Temps should have been OK. it was for a shot time.

If these birds hatch and they turn out reasonably well..I have a few people who need eggs in February..any chance you have some pictures of your RIR?

I think they are on his coop page, they are very grand birds. The heritage ones seem to be friendlier then the reg ones, we had a nice chat about this summer on the nor cal thread, was jsut talking to a customer today about it ( she wanted rir with silkies, tricky!)

Candled tonight, all systems go so far. Some show very definite veining, all show darkened yolk area, the blue and green eggs are harder to see anything definite. At least we're off to a start.

Also set another 14 eggs and have a couple eggs due to hatch this weekend.

Well, I've decided I have one of two problems. One, my temps haven't been high enough and I'm working on fixing that to find out if that's what's up. Two, Red just really wants to be turned into dog food. No one in their right mind would take a crazy and evil roo that isn't doing his job, so if I find out he's the problem he becomes dog food. I can put up with him if I get fertile eggs, if not he's out of here and out of everyone's hair. He'll have given me another good reason he shouldn't be allowed to live. I do not do freeloading roos and I wouldn't wish him on anyone.

Freezer camp was open today for visitors.
Too bad they checked into the Hotel California.
They checked out but were not able to leave.

Today's visitor was a low count.
Sent invitations to 9 large, buff, tasty, young roos.
Sure hope they come by for a visit.
As a matter of fact I am offering them FREE transportation.

They will become some very nice Christmas presents.

@ Raz, send Red on over there is always room for one more guest in the camp er a hotel.

Woohoo! Look what I got today! Weighs 586g, letting it rest overnight then in the bator it goes. Hopefully I'll have a Emu chick around the first of Feb (next to it is a chicken egg)
