4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

Try having a plastic bag w/ some fresh coffee grounds in it, sniff of the coffee to clear you nose between eggs.
(as long as the air all around isn't too bad this should work)

Something in the coffee smell "resets" the human nose, they even use it in high end perfume design to help professional "Nose" to be able to work longer when designing fragrances -- learned that on a tour in south of France way long time ago. Lucky have not yet had to try it w/ bator eggs so just extrapolating, have used it w/ other smelly situations of nose overload.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that next time.

If you are seeing veining, don't give up! If they are bad, the veining will pretty much go away..just give it another day..I candle a lot..never made a difference as far as I could tell. Just do it slowly, don't turn fast. If there is veining just starting, turning an egg fast, can sure turn it into a blood ring real quick!
Thank you! You give me a bit of hope!

I do try to be very careful, especially since it is so early.

I do have another question about candling. I have at least two eggs that are very dark, like they look more like pictures I see of like day 13 or so. I don't see any movement, but just very dark, on one, I can also see some veining.

I guess I didn't actually ask a question.... are these bad eggs, good eggs, either?

I'm planning on heading out for a bareback ride, with my kids, on the horses, in the dark tonight, in search of a Christmas tree, so hopefully that will keep my mind off of candling the eggs. I want to candle them all tomorrow night with the kids and record what we are finding in each egg... We'll be sure to draw the air cells on them as well...
I envy you!!!! I want snow and a full moon so badly to go for a night ride. Plus I have been studying for exams, and haven't had any time to ride! grr

Today I candled and one of my eggs which has had great veining ( still does) but one section of the vein looked especially dark, anyone know what this is? I can try and get a picture if it would help
