Good morning everyone.
What's going on inside our chicken eggs-Day 7:

By the seventh day digits appear on the wings and feet, the heart is completely enclosed in the thoracic cavity, and the embryo looks more like a bird.

OMGoodness! I just put my 5 ducklings up on Craigslist (sad!!), and I just got a text and here is what it said: Do you have pics...and do u have to bottle feed ducks"     Um, I'm not sure if I feel comfortable selling my ducklings to this person. Humm... They have to pass the "Duck Test" before I sell them by babies! LOL

I asked them if they'd ever raised any type of poultry/waterfowl before...Nope! I told them if they have a a local TSC go visit with them and they'll fix you up with duck supplies, and I also gave them a link to BYC. I told them when they get READY for ducklings to give me a holler. I'd have some more for sale NYD. : )

And I pulled over a dozen eggs last night....these are from my birds. I am checking fertility on them. Nothing on the Sizzles

Hens are laying great ...rooster obviously not doing his job, SLACKER !!!
Phoenix just started laying again...the 1st 5 eggs were clear...that rooster obviously got it together.

Pulled 2 tiny pullet eggs from my Silkies..the rest are going strong.

ALL in ALL not surprised with my results and I am happy with what I have.

Plus... I added Legbar eggs and White Orp eggs just a few days ago.

didn't candle last night my light bulb burnt out guess it's a good thing I'll candle tonight day 7 with the kids and the DH!

YES! This is what I'm going to tell my fiancee as to why I need another kind of bird!

He just stared at me....and my friend (not the helpful kind) said well....road apples have "apple" in the name, so you'll need those too. GRRR!

Tell them,,, are we suppose to tell them before we get them ??? This explains alot..

Unfortunately he pays for this habit of mine. So yeah, I gotta tell him what I'm spending money on

Here's my [COLOR=FF0000]entry for the egg art contest[/COLOR]. I'm not very artistic. Chicken on a nest TRYING to lay an egg for NYDH......LOL

NOT ARTISTIC????? Seriously??? I'm lucky to draw a stick person with all the appendages the same length...and you think you're not artistic???

Decoupage works too for egg art!!!


Duck egg incubation: (how we do it, doesnt matter what incubator)

Humidity -

• 30 or less during incubation
• 70% or higher during lockdown (80% is great)

Temp -

• we dont do any adjusting at all

Turning -

• upright, auto turner has always worked fine for the duck eggs (EXCEPT MUSCOVY, we hand turn on their sides)

no misting, resting or anything else is done


Goose eggs however have a ton of hands on and effort put forth to have good hatch rates.
