Your chicks won't forget what they are or where they came from

Yah, they won't remember that it was I who was such a worried mama and took care of them!

I will try that tonight if nothing else the salt will burn the heck out of them. sorry to all the mouse lovers, they are not good in a coop.
My bad on Zoe's age she is only 8 months old and looks to be the same size as your boy, what is his name. Zoe did alright in the heat her room has air conditioning in it and I only walked her a little ways down the road and we have a nice shaded lot. On really hot days I moved her to the woods or just took her out to do her business. I wish I had some other animals for her to bond too. I do have a really cool story though about her that brought tears to my eyes and chills down my arms. Here it is
During the end of summer I was cleaning out my breeding pens and had Zoe tied up near me (she is a puppy and runs after everything, she has a long lead) our Amish neighbor has a large flock of sheep that usually roam 40+ acres behind us, they stay to the back where it is cooler and has shade trees, well, I had to dump a barrel of straw in the compost and when I was rounding the corner I was stopped in my tracks, every sheep that was on the back 40 started walking up to the fence line, one by one they came up to Zoe and nudged her and she did they, they took turns sticking their heads through the fence while she gently pulled at the wool on their heads, and smelled them, on lamb in particular kept putting his head on hers and she kept gently nudging his. I was like they all knew they were meant to be together. I was sad and happy in the same moment, sad that she didn't have her own flock and happy that she knew what her job was, I hope to get her some mini goats this spring. I still get tears thinking about that moment.

I had a Pyr years ago that was my favorite dog of all times. She loved my cats and I also had a little dwarf bunny that always slept under her. She took care of that bunny for years and never once stepped on her. They were best friends. Makes me think it might be time for another dog, a Pyr of course!

I threw a warm wet sponge in quickly this morning, and I just got back from church and my humidity is 60%... I turned my temp down a bit again, and its sitting at 98* right now... So now I watch and wait...
So far, no pips, no peeps, no rocking.... I know I had 31 live eggs when I put them in...
Misery loves company! LOL Thanks for joining me

I took a cat into the layer pen with me a few nights ago where I have a mouse problem. I know there are mice under the one nest so I lifted it up for her. She got the sucker and then ran out showing me the mouse. She followed me around for 15 minutes just dropping the darn thing in front of me. Last night I took her in with me and I didn't need to show her where to go. The problem is I couldn't get her to come out. Finally I looked and she had 7 mice laying all lined up next to each other. I through the mice in a pail and carried her and the pail out and left her be. She insisted on showing me her catch again. I hope she wasn't wanting to share her feast with me.
Best pest control around I say! I have 4 cats and not a single problem with rodents in the barns or the house!
Since I was unable to be home on the 11th to set at noon with everyone I set all my eggs the morning of the 12th.
I have CHICKS HATCHING!!! I went to put them in LD this morning and I had pops all over the place. I already have chicks out and more zipping and these are LF not seramas. Lol
Does that mean I win??

How on earth does this happen? How can they be 3 days early?
That's going to be a great brooder and so cool that it goes with the other cabinets in the room. Good job!
Thank you. Someone was giving away an old set of kitchen cabinets so I grabbed 'em all. We are putting them to good use everywhere!
I think it is great recycle, reuse, renew
Me too. We are very frugal and eco conscious. My daughter even has her own ecologically friendly baby store with cloth diapers and such.
My flock getting a post-xmas leftover feast. mmmmm love that stuffing and sweet potatoes.
About 2 seconds later, the larger of the two baby roos jumped in the middle of the sweet potatoes, squawking and flapping like mad.
LOL.
...oh and I don't have any pips yet, either. 8(
Ah! I was going to ask if they could eat stuff like that. Mine get all sorts of things but usually uncooked veggie matter. Never knew I could give them cooked and such. Time to clean out the fridge!

I NEVER have chicks hatch more than a day early. Wouldn't you know, I have 1 out and 4 more pipped. Now the problem, I forgot to list these on my list of breeds. UGH! I guess we'll go with the first 3 out of those I listed.

Quote: All you do. I don't think I will have any other dog. My girl my bark a lot. But I'll never freeze. She's like a big polar bear, soft as cotton. She likes cats and tries to make friends with other dogs, but their all intimated by her size, so everyone is mean to her. Corancher breeds I do believe and I will in a couple years. I have to find her a husband first. Just lovely dogs.

LOL, I'm surprised so many have early pips!

Thank you all for teaching me about fermenting their feed. They do seem to like it and it seems this bag of feed is indeed lasting longer. My only gripe now is that I have a lot of white birds, and they all are stained on their chests! Only one thing has changed in their lives, and that's the feed, so I guess the chickens are dribbling it down their front?!?! Messy eaters!

Oh, I so wanted to vote for more than one.
ahhaha, See I got TOLD to read the instructions. I say I cheated!
Me too! at least 75% of my coops are made from recycled material, even the paint! And I think I made it all look pretty good (sorta) still, LOL. What isn't perfect is my lack of skill

All Our coops are recycled wood, some are recycled wire and fittings, but not all. I wont use chicken wire for coops, we live in predator land. 6 min from Dowtown SJ and we have bobcats, deer, racoons, possums, foxes, hawks, owls and some chick stealing burrowing thing I don't know what it is . Surprisingly We have no issues with coyotes, dogs or cats. No one believes me, I dont really believe it myself.

Isn't it the way it goes! And that would be my solution too.

So fun watching everyones else get excited, makes up for the hatch i'm having!
