4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

One of the chicks that pipped last night just cam out - a very healthy, noisy one (I hope she's a she!). And I hope that her noise spurs the others into action. I have another that pipped this morning and is half zipped already.

Has anyone ever feather sexed chicks successfully? I have eight ("don't count your chickens . . .") of these spoken for, but of course, my customers only want females. I was going to search youtube for feather sexing and do some research while I'm waiting for more action here. If anyone knows of a good site or pdf, please let me know!

Goodmorning fellow newyears day hatcher. We had the last of the 9 button eggs hatch last night. Nothing from the 2nd cortunix egg , we have one of the serama eggs pipped , bit worried about it though as its pipped under the egg and in the middle instead of tword the fat end of the egg.
I cant seem to get ustream to work this morning , I will keep trying.

Good luck and Congratulation to my Chicken families

I woke up to a bunch of chicks...I have five trays full of fluffy butts... I can't wait to open the hatchery and get a good look at my chicks.
I think I will wait until tonight or maybe even tomorrow .. I still see some that haven't hatched..
My quail are due tomorrow. They are in a different hatcher
