This morning I had two ducklings hatched and one was half out and now when I went for pics she is stiff!!! I almost flipped, she made it that friggen far!!! I pulled her out of the shell and it was filled with globby blood!!!! she musta ruptured her navel veins or something!!! OMG I was so sad!!!! WE ONLY have two ducks and I swear I WILL NEVER EVER HATCH ducks again!! or else I need to do ALOT MORE RESEARCH because I should have done some things different during incubation but I chose dry incubation route.. NOT AGAIN for DUCKS!!!

QUESTION: what kinda dish and depth water do I need for newly hatched ancona ducklings?

They are adorable!!!

Wow, I can not keep caught up on this thread today. I've got one call duck pipped, and I candled a jap egg (due thursday) and had a pip in there already! So guess I might have some chicks on the way sooner than thought.

We dry incubate all waterfowl with no issues ever. Lockdown = a bump to 70%or more

oh and dont rush to offer food and water. They dont need food the first 24 hours at all (yolk sack and all). Ducks and geese can often take longer to be fully upright and really coordinated on their feet.

Cute! I use little condiment cups for mine for the first few days. Big enough to drink easily, but not get stuck or make a huge mess. They are pretty good the first few days, the mess starts around the end of week one. I can't wait for my babies to come out of their shells, ducklings are adorable.

Now you know you ALL want naked neck chicks!! Right Right?
