Hi Herducks!!!I just logged on and I missed over 500 posts on this thread! It would take me an hour to read them all...so I skipped a few pages!!
tadpole she is a very pretty hen!! is she splash? love those dots!! CONGRATS!FLUFFYYY LAAAIIIIDDD AN EGG!!!!
^ thats her when she went into ICU for roosters overbreeding her (notice the head)
long story short ad 40 chicken racoon or something came and we went down to four and she was one of the survivors
but she paid the price of the use of one leg and a wing, both are lame
she didnt lay for years
and the other month i saw her in a floor nesting box. thought she was just camping out
we always see her getting bred bc she cant get away (she can only hop a little)
evidently, she was laying!! thats definitly a cochin x
ayayayyay!
Remember, the rest of us are EARLY!! =) I'm up to 9 chicks.. The last one zipped and sproinged out within a matter of moments. maybe having fewer feathers gives them more room in the egg because this chick literally just split the egg in half in one shot and was walking around with eggshell on his rear.no pips here yet...come on guys!!! you can DO it!!!!

Hi Dalooras!!500 posts???/ I'm not even going to try looking through them all, lol!!for my eggs!!! I set late on the 11th, so don't expect any action till tomorrow, but I guess I could be surprised, right??![]()
YAYAYYA Good WORK!!Good Morning everyone! Finished my chores enough to drop inI set 19 eggs, 3 made it to lockdown (but one didn't look active at that time, turned out a quitter) and had 2 hatch. One hatched upside down, and in hindsight, I should have just made sure it could breathe and left the shell in tact sans the little hole for breathing and let him do his thing. Fortunately, despite my interference, he's doing great. Here are my pictures:
This one suddenly zipped, and after taking this picture, I switched the camera over to video just in time to catch it throwing off the lid in a dramatic fashion and rolling right out of the shell! It was amazing!
He dragged a little blood around, but not much. Cute little bugger!
Then, the upsidedown pip that I had been messing with. Sinde the other one hatched, I waited a few more hours, but the membrane was getting dry, so I eventually removed it and took him out. He still had stuff in his belly, and he bled. It looked awful! But her turned out to be just fine. Lesson learned, leave 'em alone if everything else looks good (good looking membrane, could breathe, leave alone! LOL. I should not have peeled back the shell, and exposed the membrane causing the rest of the troubles!
Here they are drying off in the 'bator
Here they are in the brooder
And here they are again, sweet little peeping fluffy butts![]()
