Cute cute cute

You just gotta be the judge. The danger is simply rupturing veins or yolk sack. I suggest if you do open up, only do enough for them to kick out, less than half the egg, make sure they can breathe and aren't getting squeezed down on their chest, then you won't risk the yolk sack being pulled apart and he'll push out when he's ready. Also, keep him wrapped lightly in a wet towel (I used a hand towel, last time, but ... er... be prepared to sacrifice the towel, LOL.Ok let me clairify,
The membrane right under the shell that I opened was totally 100% dry, like that old onion skin typewritter paper for those old enough to remember that.
The membrane inside between the chick's body, and the interior of the air cell through which they have poked their beaks (between 10-50% of break protruding through)
is ALSO looking exactly like the other membrane, ie dry white onion skin, except in the case of EggB, the central area I can see is less dry more see through, but has distinctly a red vien running in the middle of it laying on top of the chick (like if the chick had hit that it would have bleed out already). So clearly Egg E needs more time (several hours??).
But in all the cases that inner membrane is totally plastered against what I can see of the chicks (all dark feathers btw) and it looks to me like they can't even wriggle under it, they can move their beaks ever so slightly to chirp a little, but they can't really spin or lift their head to even push through that thin little membrane or tear it farther for what I can tell squinting into the tiny holes I made. I maybe miss judging, this is the first time I've ever seen this...
My concern on time is at least 1 chick peeped about midnight last night - that is 14 hrs ago, & W w/ only 10% of beak through membrane sounded very very weak in its couple of peeps, so if that one internally piped 14 hr ago should I break it out now, or keep waiting??
You can reinstall it in windows repair. Google itHowdy everyone, sorry my stupid 1200$ HP laptop which I purchased in 2010, lost it's boot drive, don't ask how because the only thing I can think of is the BF stuck a SD stick in it and it was corrupt. So I had to wait until he called so I could get on his gaming computer, (maybe I should stick the stick in it haha not really funny) Well I'm working on getting the contests buttoned down and putting the winners on the main contest thread. There are some still needing some votes here are the links
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/733230/voting-for-the-nyd-hatchalong-flapper-contest (closes midnight jan 4)
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/732753/nydh-contest-9-egg-art-contest-voting-here/10 (I'm closing this at 5pm EST Jan. 2 today, so if you haven't voted do so now)
These too I know for sure are still taking votes, I'm still looking into the others, trying to get answers sorry.

Awww, make him some of those flipper sandals, seems to help!I have some really cute chicks also. The one that was stuck, was a strong little kid and stayed alive for the two days everyone else was hatching, its little feet got curled but it is a trooper.
Awesome, glad the marans are coming along now!guess my eggies thought this was the January Hatch A Long...
I have five Jubilee Orpingtons out, a polish trying... and now a Barred Rock just popped out! I have some pips in there too...
the marans are being totally lazy tho... but I'm not ready to give up... I think they are just 'late bloomers'!!!
Too cute!OMG SMARTER than chickens SHOULDA NAMED this video "I DONT FORGET YOU!"
Yay i can hear chirping but cant see the pip. Not due til early friday morning.i can jear the egg moving but cant see which one. Im excited finally hatching some chicks after trying 6 dozen i havr 14 of 14 that were fertile in lockdown. 7 were not fertile. Hope i get a good hatch. Can't wait to see what i get. Roosters are Dominicker and buff orpington. Hens are a variety
Backyard flock lol. Wish me luck.

I gotta make something like that for lockdown when I try hatching my own eggs so I know who came from whom

I'm glad you got those 4, they're really sweet! What do you think they are? They look like my leghorns??Well, unfortunately the remaining eggs look like day 17 or 18 quitters. I opened them all and nothing viable was left. So sad, but at least I got 4 healthy babies! I really wasn't expecting super awesome results considering the source. It's not like grocery stores are careful about shipping. That, along with the low temps and the age by the time they get to the store, and I'm amazed I got 4!!! I originally set 11.
Here's some pics of them all fuffed up.

I love her down color! Pretty chickie!
Do you think they're just a little late, I mean the one chick just hatched, no?OK aside from the first chick there seems to be nothing going on with the remaining 19 eggs..absolutely nothing...I sure hope I am not going to end up with a lone chick...I don't think they even sell chicks at the feed store in January so I don't know if I'd be able to get him a buddy...keep your fingers crossed everyone!!!
I have one more pip, and one more that knocks back...it's looking like 5 for me.. but with possibility of 2 more if they are just slow.

Oh I'm so sorry! I did keep mine on the floor, even so it's colder there, the temperature varies less there. Next time, I hope to have some more room in a closet, that'd be perfect, I think! This is just my luck. The fan in my room was turned off last night because it was too cool to have it on. Turns out that was the only thing between me and a massive temp spike.I lost the three chicks that hatched and the six eggs I had left, 2 BA/RIRs and 4 serama. Nothing is moving in the eggs at all. I even float tested them again and got nothing. Maybe I just wasn't meant to have seramas?![]()
I had to assist 2 more... One of my mystery eggs, and one OE. They had made extra large pip holes and even though they were moving their beaks around, they weren't zipping at all. They had been like that for at least 7 hurs. The mystery chick was starting to get some crystalized gunk around its beak. I steamed up the bathroom and put the space heater on, and one by one, I brought them in.
The Mystery chick still had blood vessels in the inner membrane, so I picked away a part of the shell and outer membrane, wet down the dry inner membrane, made the hole around its beak just a tad bigger, tried to clean a bit of the crystalized gunk off of its nostrils and from around the beak so it could open its mouth again, wrapped it in a warm wet paper towel, the put it back inteh incubator.
The OE chick had less of a space where the air sac should be, and all of its vessels were absorbed, so I chipped away shelll from the air sac area, wet down the inner membrane, and teased it back off of about half of the area I had exposed. I then wrapped it up in a warm wet paper towel and put it back next to the other one in the incubator...
I have to bring my daughter into town for confirmation classes in about 1/2 hour, so I'll check to make sure they are moist vefore I leave, the I'll be gone for at least 1 1/2 hours... Best way to make sure I keep my hand out of the bator and off of the eggs!!!

LOL, that's funnyAh, thank you so much! I should know better than to hatch a bunch of same-colored chicks! lol

Listen to it, and see if it is getting weaker. It will be quiet a lot, but if he is moving and when he does peep, if it's strong, let him have the time he needs to absorb his blood and yolkHow do you know if a chick is shrink wrapped? I have a chick that pipped and then started to make it's hole bigger, but now it's just kinda sitting. I did open the bator briefly this morning because I had a hatchling on it's back in the corner unable to right itself, but I raised my humidity before I opened and it stayed stable. The peep is breathing and moving and all seems ok ... but I just wasn't sure how to tell if one was shrinkydinked.
