I hatched eggs from 2 of my pullets laid their very first week of laying. My best hatchers were actually those 2 pullets' eggs.To mrheinz77 Good Luck at the show!
mstricer- so have you had chicks hatch from pullet eggs? I'm trying to teach my kids, and I can't find any info on this! Thanks!
Congrats & welcome to the countdown! One of the great ladies on the PA thread is loaning me an incubator...so I'm in!
Thanks
I have hatched pullet eggs but the chicks don't seem to thrive as well as they do from eggs after the girls have been laying 4-6 weeks.
Good to know, my kids want to try all kinds of eggs, they even want to ask the neighbor for a grocery store egg, since I refuse to buy a dozen for one egg! (wouldn't eat the rest! I have real eggs! hahaha)
If I set at noon on Dec 11th, my chicks will not hatch early on the first. I've only once had chicks hatch any earlier than the date and time I've set them. So my chicks would start hatching at noon on the 1st of January. Two important notes:
1. The member list can be seen here. I am only able to update it every couple of days due to having access to my computer and trying to get ready for my first poultry show.
2. We are setting chicken eggs Dec 11 at noon local time, notDec 10. If you are not home at noon, you will set as close to noon as you can (but not before)
