For white birds try the horse shampoo designed to remove manure stains. It is fantastic for getting the yellow out as well. We use a lot of it due to having Paint horses who are part pig

I did for my last hatch, and I will be doing it again this hatch. It's eaiser for turning and such and I had very positive results.

I need to increase the mass in my incubator, as it looses temp as soon as I take my turner out. Not sure why.. Thought this would help a bit. So none pipped the wrong way or had trouble getting out?

Couldn't you just turn off the turner at lockdown and leave them in it?

Wouldn't they get stuck under it and in the creases and hurt themselves? That's what I would imagine

Oh, I actually had them in the cartons for the first 18 days and laid them on their sides for the last 3. They actually don't need as high of temparures for the last 3 days, some people even recommend to lower it 1 degree for the last 3 days. To increase mass, you can use a water bottle. You can simply place it on the edge, or in the middle, or where ever. Try to get the water at 100 degrees before you place it in the incubator. Hope this helps.

I have read many sucess stories of people hatching in cartons without problems of chicks pipping the wrong way or having trouble getting out, but I did't want to risk it. Some say that it's actually much easier for the chick to get out when the eggs are in cartons, and it does make sence. I think I will try leaving them in the cartons for hatching for the NYD hatch.

I don't have an automatic egg turner, but can you remove the trays? That way you could set the trays down on the ground just like the cartons would be and you shouldn't have any porblems with chicks falling and it should have about the same mass as before.

Once again, I don't have one myself so I'm not sure how they work, but if you can remove the trays that hold the eggs, this should work.
