4th of July Hatch-Along!

When I set my eggs, I didn't even think about the 4th.

Okay, a tonnn of babies have hatched!! A few last night right before bed and then like 10 overnight I am making my best guess as to who came out of each egg And some I just took group photos for!

These babies hatched last night:

#20 Dela - cute little white chick - has a curled toe and slight splay leg, will fix this morning. @AinaWGSD

#13 Georgia - sorry she isnt peach she has a very cute Mohawk though! @tlcmurphy

#8 Fire cracker: black chick without penguin markings @GreenJay

#1 Nelson - black with white chest @casportpony

#5 Blueskin - hatched right after Nelson! All black/blue! @casportpony

#34 Glory - the first lavender chick to hatch!!! Also has head vault. I will have to check my notes, maybe their dad did have a vault. I didn’t think so! @urlocalcrazychickenlady

Also some sad news, I opened the shells on two babies last night because they had no movement. #4 Liberty @oldhenlikesdogs and #7 Flag @Debbie292d had passed before they ever pipped internally

But so grateful for all the beautiful and healthy chicks so far!!

Okay and this is what I woke up to this morning - 13 chicks in the incubator Just mass chaos!

Okay first the lavender group - they are all babies from 3 of my cute F1 pullets. I randomly assigned F1 eggs to them and just took a group photo.

Then there is one that sadly I think passed right before or shortly after lockdown. It is #35 Stripes @Ecarroll
Maybe I can give one of the unnamed eggs that name so that we can still have a Stars and Stripes!

I gave Martha #22 @oldhenlikesdogs a hand, she was struggling to get zipped out all the way, but was ready to make her debut! To my surprise, she is lavender! Her mom is Frenchie, a white F2 satin that doesn’t have the blue egg gene but she is the sweetest, friendliest girl and so pretty, so I decided to hatch her eggs. (Attaching her pic also - and yes, she does get a cheek and crest trim from time to time so that she can see) I am happy to see that Frenchie carries the lavender gene!

Francisco is lavender and Blue is black/blue (I have a hard time telling!)
