Here is a pic of the 35 hatched chicks!! Shortly after I took this pic, someone came to pick up their new babies (8 of them) and take them home! They were so excited!!

Just have to share a picture of this little chick, who is lavender but carries mottle! Which was a big surprise, it means that Frenchie, my white satin girl carries both lavender and mottle (before this hatch I didn’t know that she carried either!) This chick will feather in fully lavender, but if bred to another mottle carrier, then I could end up with mottled babies someday, which I think are so cute.

What a beautiful chick! ❤️ Now I'm curious to see how she feathers out as an adult. :p

As an adult all of the white will be gone and she will look exactly like a fully lavender chicken. But I love that when chickens carry the mottle gene, it is visible in the babies! (Unless they are white like this ones mama haha.) If they carry one copy of the gene, they are mottled carriers, and they will have some uneven patchy white around the face and head. If they carry two copies, and are mottled, they will have a lot of white on the head and belly and shoulders.

Now I understand. 😁 I am definitely clueless when it comes to genetics. I googled Mottled Lavender and Google showed me this, I can see why the mottling is a nice gene to show up, so pretty! ❤️
