5/6 turned out to be roo's help...

Honest, the age at which roosters start acting up varies. Their hormones start turning on at about 12 weeks, and keep rising until they are mature. At what age they start acting obnoxious will vary drastically by bird. Some, as early as 4 months. Generally they are pretty solidly in "teenager" phase by 7-9 months. But the dominant rooster will always be worse than the lower ranking roosters. But if you get rid of the dominant rooster, someone else will take his spot.

Thanks. Hopefully they give me enough time to get them good homes because I'm a softy.

Welcome to BYC from middle Tennessee :frow You've already been given good advice so I have nothing further to add. Next week, I'll be selecting my birds to go to "Adult" pasture. All girls go and only enough roos to be 1 in ten... the rest go to freezer camp. It's kind of a hard philosophy but too many boys kill hens. Hens lay eggs and pay the rent. Boys just eat feed.

Totally agree with BlueShadow not only do their hormones rage but, their temperament often changes from being cute & outgoing, to aggressive with hens and humans.
