Hey im semi new to chicken raring as a child my parents had them and I helped tend the flock occasionally. I recently decided to start my own i bought 7 birds 2 of 3 different breeds and 1 partridge coachin and she is now around 5-6 weeks old and only has maybe 6 random wing feathers per side and other than getting a little plumper she has not matured at all, shes been quarantined for a while now with a little on and off pasty but checked 2 times a day at vary least and occasionally i find her screaming her head off with eyes seemingly glued closed, usually after a minute of holding her she'll open them. Other than that shes spry and seems to be happy my other 6 are almost fully fletched now and have moved into their coop. As for this little bird i dont know what to do for her other than what i already am which is. electrolytes, probiotics, acidifiers, medicated food along with strawberries and scrambled eggs (her favorites). She now lives in a tote at 80°f quarantined untill i can figure out what is going on. If anyone out there has any info? please let me know

I have a Easter Egger that has been being picked on a little and I notice she still looks very young. At 6 weeks of age. It could be a disease though.

Other than some minor dirty but and 2 days being very tierd and having troubles opening her eyes shes very spry im hopfull its not disease but still cautious

I had 3 quail like that from shipped eggs. 2 are double silvers, which cause some issues resembling partial albinism, but the 3rd was perfectly normal, just slow to feather and grow. I kept them separate and put supplements in their water and eventually, after several weeks, she caught up, started laying, and was totally normal. I’ve even hatched her eggs, and they developed totally normally.

I have no chicken experience, but the screaming and eye closing are more concerning than the size and feather development imo. I feel like that may indicate some internal issues that cause pain in some situations, I would lean more towards internal improper development / congenital issue than illness. I hope someone else has a better response tho.

Is she drinking water ok?

She hasn't been drinking a whole lot of water on her own she is showing dome signs of bulking up

Its been about a week she pulled out of whatever was going on with her feeling week we took her in to the vet with a suspect crop impaction they cleared the crop and she has been on baby bird food for 5 days her legs are starting to grow a bit but one definitely seems to be causing her some pain hopefully growing pain we are keeping her seperated and on a special diet for now. As for the water she hasn't been drinking alot on her own wich has raised concerns right now shes getting water with the baby bird food hopefully well get her back on a normal chick diet this week
