So I inherited what I believe are 2-3 day old ducklings that were rescued by another individual across town. Using websites it seems as if the breed is correct. They are in a coop within my chicken coop and doing fine so far. Thy climb!

Any tips or thoughts on these ducklings? Should I clip/cut wings and keep with chicks? Should I rehab and set them free? If so, where are some good resources to prepare them for the wild and a timeline of sorts?

Thanks in advance

Even though the black bellied whistling duck's conservation status is »Least Concern (Population increasing)« it is a wild bird and covered by the migratory bird act of 1913, which makes collecting these ducks from the wild and keeping them illegal. You are allowed to shoot them during their hunting season, but you cannot keep them legally.
I would surrender them to a state rehab facility.
And yes they can climb, as they are tree nesting and perching ducks.
