5 days of Corid and still black poo

Why are you treating for cocci?

One of my peahens died Recently. She was seven months old. I am not sure if she died from cocci but I thought that may be what had happened to her. She was in the pen with the adult birds. So I began to treat their drinking water with Corid thinking if one had it maybe all had it. I had noticed the adult birds had a black stool. I wish I knew more about treating my birds. I don’t want to over medicate. That is why I ask so many questions. I did not know adult birds rarely are affected by cocci Until you told me. I appreciate all your information.

Yes, adult birds or even juvenile yearlings will hardly ever come down to cocci unless there is another underlying problem. Usually, by their first mid-winter, they have built up a resistance to cocci. The adults even with close contact with a bird with cocci should not get sick from that bird.
