My chicks are 5 days old. I had not noticed until a few minutes ago that one of the chicks foot has turned in. Is that straddle leg? They have good bedding, nothing that would make her go straddle unless it just happens sometimes. Everyone is thriving including the chick with the bad foot. I just noticed what a hard time she is having walking, and is hopping on her good foot. She can't get around nearly at all now. It does't look broken, just turned. Do I have to put her down? If so.. how do you do that humanely?

My DD had a chick like that that she refused to cull. We wound up super gluing a piece of rigid cardboard to the bottom of her foot so she could walk. In a few days the glue wore off and the carboard fell off and she has been perfectly fine ever since. Maybe that would help yours, it's worth a shot!

Cut a piece of a toilet paper roll and put it on the bottom of the chicks foot. Tape it's foot and toes in their proper position. I think it takes a couple days with the "splint" on and then the foot should be fine.

If the leg goes out to the side too much, then you can use a band aid to splint the legs together.

Here's a link for leg problems. Hope it helps.
